Birthday Grinch

My wife may as well be Cindy Lou Who and I am the Grinch. But in her opinion I did not steal Christmas I took the Birthday Sprit. In my life I have never met a person that loves birthdays more than my wife. Not only does she love her birthday she loves other peoples’ birthdays just as much and celebrates them to the fullest. Saying she goes all out is an understatement. Her birthday is celebrated for a month and she calls it “The 28 days of Kelly.”

This year the Grinch has to grow a hart because his wife’s Birthday is nine days before his second child is due to be born. But what do you get your wife who is pregnant for her birthday?
This is one serious dilemma and unfortunately there is no right answer because the gift could always backfire on the Grinch.

Below is a list of ideas the Grinch had and the pro and con to each gift:

Jewelry
Pro: As long as chose carefully and work within the lines of the hints she has given, me I have a winner.
Con: Nine days or so after the birthday I have to get the wife a PUSH GIFT, and jewelry was the direction I
was going with on that one.

Clothes
Pro: I could get her a gift card to Nordstrom’s for after the baby is born or something I know she has had her eye on such as a hand bag, ect.
Con: Gift cards are not a personal gift and the birthday girl could take that badly and when it comes to the hand bag who know if we like Kate Spade this season or if Gucci is hot this season.

Spa day
Pro: who does not like a spa day……………..
Con: when will she have time for a spa day after number two comes?

A personal Trainer for six months
Pro: She loved her old personal trainer and does not like to work out alone.
Con- With baby number one I gave her a treadmill and elliptical for a push gift, and I still don’t know if she liked them or was offended.

A trip
Pro: I bet she would love to be on a beach in Maui.
Con: Bring the kids; don’t bring the kids? If you bring the kids who do you bring so the wife can enjoy the trip?

Something for the baby
Con: never get your wife a gift that is meant to be used for someone other than her even if it is a great   diaper bag or stroller you know she wants. Suck it up and get that kind of stuff as a just because gift.

As you can see, the birthday grinch has grown a hart and put some thought into THE BIRTHDAY but has come up with nothing! Maybe the baby will come on her birthday, and I can buy myself some more time. But then again I have to get two gifts birthday and push. Who came up with the idea of a push gift just one more thing for men to stress over.
I will say if you are looking to get jewelry for that women in your life go to Graham Jewelers in Wayzata. The staff is so helpful and they send you a $50 gift card every year around your wife’s birthday—almost like a reminder to think ahead to get a gift. What could be better than that?

Lake Minnetonka Ice Out is the official start of spring

For those of us who use Lake Minnetonka year round ice out is the official start to spring! The winter lake activity's end in February weather permitting because it is no longer safe to drive on the lake.  Lets hope we get an early ice-out so we can have cocktails on the deck at  Fletcher's  . For Lake Minnetonka Buyers and sellers Spring, Summer, and Fall is the best time to view property's, because you can see the kind of lake shore a property has to offer.

    Declaring Minnetonka Ice-Out
Ice-out is declared on Lake Minnetonka by the Commander of the Water Patrol: currently
Lt. Steve Hartig. Ice Out does not necessarily mean "Ice Free".
Ice-Out is declared by Lt. Hartig   when he can take a boat from Water Patrol Headquarters
in Spring Park, through the Narrows and around Big Island without having to significantly
alter course to avoid ice or ice floes. This is the same method that has been used since 1855
for lake boat captains to start the summer navigation season.
